Peruvian/French Art Project - Colegio Alto Perú - April 7, 2010In collaboration with the French NGO EducationWorld 86, SOLAC is organizing a cultural exchange project between children of Alto Perú and Montamisé (France) in the form of an art competition.
UVa in Huachipa - July 3, 2009For the second year running SOLAC organized a weekend project to bring some improvements to the Colegio Alto Peru thanks to the participation of the University of Virginia students on interchange at the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya of Lima.
Art Project in Colegio Alto Peru - June 12, 2009With the aim of maintaining SOLAC’s commitment to the school of Alto Perú, in the District of Chosica-Lurigancho, we decided to organize an art project with the children of the school. When discussing with the Headmistress of the school, Sr.a Nelli Villegas, about what would be a good theme for the project in order to benefit the children the most, she suggested making it about the history of Huachipa. She explained to us that many of the children found it hard to identify with and relate to their community as an entity. This is how we came up with the idea of having the children build a pop-up book about the history of their community.

Richmond Magazine Honors SOLAC Volunteer - November 4, 2008The October Issue of Richmond Magazine awarded the 11th Annual Theresa Pollak Prizes For Excellence in the Arts. Ann Swanson, a SOLAC volunteer and collaborator, was honored with the "Film" award.
Santa Cruz de Flores - August 6, 2008In the aftermath of the earthquake that struck southern Peru in mid-August, SOLAC has attempted to provide a little relief to those who have yet to benefit from the government's emergency response. The communities we have selected are rural, and in sometimes hard to reach places. Our first effort happened in Santa Cruz de Flores, about 80km south of Lima along the Panamerican Highway.
