Media
A crucial aspect of our work in Peru is sharing it with people around the world. This collection of videos were all filmed and produced by SOLAC volunteers.
We would especially like to thank Carlos Cárdenas, Jose Espallardo Ruiz, and Ann Swanson.
Preparations for Tupe
Below is the English translation of the speech that Jose Luis makes in this video:
"From here to Canete, the main priority is the cargo. If we can fit another person, we'll stick another person in, probably one of the girls because they don't weigh as much, and the car is going to be very heavy.
George and I are going to go ahead to look for a safe place for the things. The first leg of trip will leave at 10pm, and the second will leave at 1am. If it turns out that no one can go in the cars, you guys will leave at 5am to Canete, where you should arrive by 8am, where George and I will meet you.
The plan is to leave at 8am to Catahuasi, where we have a truck that is going to collect the things, and maybe us too. From Catahuasi to Aiza, we'll use the same truck. From Aiza to Tupe, which will take us four hours, we will have to walk with the help of the folks from Tupe. I'll ask them if we can stop for a bit, take turns, and try to rest. From there we'll begin the trips from 10pm until 5am, where there won't be any time to rest. So be conscious of that, and try to get some rest so we'll be able to keep moving.
The last thing that I want to tell you is thanks so much. Seriously, all of this is amazing, and I know that things have been crazy. But aside from that, thanks so much for your help, and your sentiments, you've made me feel really good.
The people in Tupe are going to receive us well, so feel good that we're doing something positive."
We hope to have this video subtitled in the near future.
