Jose Luis Incio Coronado - President

Jose is a student of Political Science at the Pontifica Universidad Católica del Perú, and co-founder of Asociacion SOLAC. He has worked as a volunteer for the Commission of Truth and Reconciliation, member of Art and Politics (a Political Science student group), president of the Latin American Regional Center of the International Association of Political Science Students, member of the Peruvian Red Cross, and member of the Campaign to Fight Racism (part of the National Coordinating Committee of Human Rights). He has taken courses in political philosophy and conflict resolution. He has produced documentaries and coordinated relief efforts following natural disasters. In addition to his work with SOLAC, he is currently directing the "Economic Power and Political Power in Peru Seminar" with Professor Francisco Durand, and assisting with a political analysis and statistics course, taught by Professor Jose Manuel Magallanes.

Juan Francisco Chavez Ramirez - Vice President

Juan is a graduate of the Pontifica Universidad Católica del Perú, and holds a degree in Anthropology. He is a co-founder of Asociacion SOLAC, and has been Vice President for the past four years. He has taken courses in collective indigenous rights, and has produced documentaries examining environmental impact and law. He has been involved with several organizations in the design and execution of different projects dealing with: social development, solidarity of agriculture (Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research - International Center of the Potato), child labor (SOLAC), indigenous groups (National Consumer and Intellectual Property Defense), industrial activity (Revenue Watch Institute - Center of Studies and Development Promotion) and women (Major Thesis). He has a diverse background working with government institutions, international organizations, private business, and non-governmental organizations, among others. In addition to his work with SOLAC, he currently works as a social specialist for a consulting firm.

Joshua Eubank

Josh is a graduate student in Latin American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where his research regards politics and culture in the Andean region. He also holds bachelor's degrees in Spanish and Political Theory from the University of Virginia. He joined SOLAC in 2005, after studying on exchange at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, at which time he took part in the initial organization of Biblioteca Alto Peru, subseqently developing the educational programming for said institution in 2006. He is currently completing an academic thesis in Berkeley, California.

Michael Quinzio

Michael was raised in Egypt, East Germany, Ecuador, and Bolivia as the son of a US Diplomat. He studied International Relations at the University of Virginia and helped coordinate forums for the XVI International AIDS Conference while interning at the United States Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand. In November of 2005, he accompanied a group of high school seniors on a Hurricane Katrina relief trip to coastal Mississippi. Before joining SOLAC in 2007, he served as a Rural Community Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Costa Rica, where he taught English classes, worked with a women's group, and assisted the local development association. Michael currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and works with a New York based children's foundation. He continues to support SOLAC remotely from New York City.

David Goodman

David is a graduate from the University of Virginia, and holds a degree in Philosophy and Political Science. Following an Amnesty International affiliated trip to Peru, he was determined to return. David officially joined the SOLAC team in 2006, when he traveled to Lima to work as a Volunteer Program Director for the Biblioteca Alto Peru Project. He has continued to work with SOLAC on this project and others, volunteering with the Campaign to Fight Racism (part of the National Coordinating Committee of Human Rights) and the Peruvian Red Cross following the earthquake in 2007. He has split the last two years between Lima and the United States. He is currently completing a sustainable development fellowship in Uganda.

Microfinance Team


Valentina Martufi

Following an internship in a fair trade organization (ComEs), in Italy, Valentina developed an interest for Development Economics, and subsequently graduated in Economics and Developing Studies at the University of Sussex, UK. After the earthquake that struck the south of Peru in August 2007, Valentina met the SOLAC team whilst volunteering with the Peruvian Red Cross, and contributed to the support that SOLAC brought to earthquake victims first in person, and then from the UK through fundraising activities. She has now been living in Lima since January 2009 where she did an internship in the Microfinance division of the Peruvian NGO EDAPROSPO. She is now part of the SOLAC Microfinance team, working to set up and coordinate a Microfinance project in Huachipa.

Ruth Pollak

Ruth developed a passion for Latin America and an interest in development whilst volunteering in a school for marginalized children in Costa Rica. She graduated in Economics with Development Studies at the University of Sussex, UK. During the university summer holidays she did an internship for the State of Hidalgo, Mexico, with the secretariats of social, rural and economic development. After graduating she worked for the Latin American and Caribbean team of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Brighton, and then did an internship in the Latin American and Caribbean Program at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna. She heard of SOLAC through Valentina and Marta, and joined them in moving to Lima in January of 2009, where she first did an internship in the Microfinance section of the Peruvian NGO Prisma, and is now working to set up and coordinate SOLAC’s Microfinance project in Huachipa.

Marta Dormal

Marta is an Economics graduate of the University of Sussex, UK. Whilst in school she volunteered in the fundraising to support SELF HELP DEVELOPMENT INTERNATIONAL in the building of an irrigation system in Eritrea. Whilst volunteering in the Peruvian Red Cross she met the SOLAC team, and supported them in bringing aid to the victims of the earthquake of August 2007, as well as participating in the construction of houses with the Chilean NGO Un Techo Para Mi Pais. Whilst completing her degree, she supported SOLAC by sending funds raised through social activities in the UK. She returned to Lima in January 2009, where she did an internship in the Microfinance section of the Peruvian NGO TACIF. At the moment she is part of the SOLAC Microfinance team, working to set up and coordinate a Microfinance project in Huachipa.
